Somme Commemoration at Lincoln Castle

This work was created for the 100 years Somme Commemoration at Lincoln Castle for Paradigm Arts.

They had held workshops with local school children to make the poppies to create an interactive art installation at the castle as part of the commemoration.

They needed a way of creating wheat, so the group of children held up the wheat and then gradually the wheat was lowered and the poppies raised.

I created 300 pieces of wheat that was laser cut from gold mount board. Each ear of wheat was then connected to a piece of willow and then spray painted green on the other side.

When held up they swayed, like wheat in a field.
